About Spaces, Places, and People

A piece of architecture is a living sculpture.
Is the light emotional? Is this texture tactile? Are these proportions balanced? These are among many questions we ask of both sculpture and architecture. I firmly believe architecture is art as much as it is an organism. Its beauty and its function serve dual purposes that will outlive us in many ways. I understand the key to succeeding in both aspects is to understand how a space represents ourselves and our community.

How will the city fabric grow accept this insertion? How will this structure perform for its users as the years go on? Does this work embody the spirit of its location? I believe the relationship to location, and the passage of time are inherently coupled. Great architecture is built off of a profound understanding of that relationship. My real joy in creating spaces is imagining their activation and the roles they have the potential to perform for both communities and individuals in the future.
Will this architecture make people happy?
